Everywhere you look these days – half walls and feature walls are popping up and for good reason too!
When you’re looking to switch things up a bit or make a dramatic statement then only needing a gallon of paint and half the time of painting a whole room seems like a great deal. A look that offers incredible visual impact for half the investment? Sold!
So how do you make such a crisp dividing line? Painters tape to the rescue right? Not so much unfortunately. I’ve been working for years with paint (in both a fine art and a home decor sense) and painters tape can be effective – but only if you are working on a perfectly flat surface. Have any sort of bubble, bump or texture that you are trying to tape over and that’s a perfect recipe for a bleed through.
That is not the look you are going for! We are looking for sharp, crisp, flawless lines that have you looking forward to pulling the tape up, not dreading having to go back in with a tiny paintbrush to fix all the mistakes later!
This method is super easy to achieve – but honestly quite difficult to explain why it works without a whiteboard and some diagrams. So I demo’d it on my Instagram a few weeks back and everyone loved seeing visually how the technique easily works!
So below is a quick video mashup explaining what you need to do to achieve this look flawlessly yourself!
