“The Mountains are calling and I must go.” – John Muir
Earlier this year my client came to me with a conundrum. Her family was going to be expanding +one soon which meant her current only child was going to need to downsize his play spaces to make room for a new nursery!
To help her toddler transition into a single room it was important this space became inspirational and would make him eager for independent play!
With budget in mind, we instantly started talking about painting a bold and bright mural and I knew pretty quick I wanted to design a punchy graphic mountain scape for this rambunctious little man!
Children have a natural longing for adventure and achievement and what better way to inspire them to go forth and conquer than a mural of mountains to watch over their dreams.
By creating a dynamic, graphic mural – the design is not only relevant now but can grow with the space as her child’s needs develop and change.

For the concept – I pulled images and inspiration together that was very graphic with bold lines and a strong palette.
I knew I wanted to do a double wall mural to encompass both of the main areas you see when you walk into the room. The objective was for the immediate appearance to be a stunning mountain skyline.
Once everything was reviewed & agreed upon with the client – we broke ground and started building our mountains!

What a difference?!
Without changing or bringing in any new furniture we were able to completely transform the space. Adding this mountain “greenery” indoors enhances the already playful decor and provides a pop of pattern and color to an otherwise neutral space.
Who wouldn’t want to wake up to that?
